According to VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski, holding presidential and parliamentary elections on 8 May is an acceptable option for his party.
As he said on Tuesday, the country is already in a constitutional crisis regarding the elections because the State Election Commission (SEC) is without one member that needs to be nominated by the opposition from the ethnic Albanian bloc, as a result of Alliance for Albanians becoming part of the ruling coalition.
Though 5 May was part of the calculations of Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi, it’s likely the elections will not be held then because Orthodox Easter will be observed that day.
