81st Anniversary of Deportation of Macedonian Jews to Treblinka Marked

The 81st anniversary of deportation of Macedonian Jews to the Treblinka concentration camp was marked on Sunday in Stip. Israel’s Ambassador, Simona Frankel, said very few people had survived in the death camp. Regarding the Gaza situation, she called on Hamas to urgently release 134 hostages.

Among them, the Ambassador said, are 19 young women who are experiencing sexual harassment and sexual abuse in the Hamas tunnels.  543 of the 7,144 Macedonian Jews who lost their life in Treblinka were from Stip. The anniversary of the deportation was marked also in Bitola.

Among those that attended the event were Mayor Toni Konjanovski, Culture Minister Bisera Kostadinovska-Stojcevska, MPs Marija Kocovska, Olga Lozanovska, and Silvana Angelevska, and German Ambassador Petra Drexler.
