Accusations over Games of Chance Law Changes Continue

Democratic Movement leader Izet Mexhiti, who’s part of the ethnic Albanian opposition’s coalition, VLEN, stated on Wednesday that the changes to the Law on Games of Chance provided for a distance of 500 metres between schools and betting shops, but not between schools and casinos.

“We urgently demand for the Sicilian clan to take its hands off massacring our population. We urgently demand not only a distance of 500 metres, but also a full removal of betting shops and casinos. In addition to the project for a casino on every street, Artan Grubi is now successfully implementing the project for a casino in every house, granting four licences to online casinos where National Lottery head Perparim Bajrami is the partner,” Mexhiti stated.

In response, DUI’s Arber Ademi described VLEN as “captives of VMRO-DPMNE”, adding that Hristijan Mickoski’s party wanted the current monopoly over the organisation of games of chance to continue.
