On Tuesday, VMRO-DPMNE and SDSM again traded accusations over the halt on North Macedonia’s EU path.
“VMRO-DMNE and Hristijan Mickoski intentionally block the country’s EU road. We’re seeing the result of those wrong policies and diplomatic misses today. Albania is proceeding on the EU path, whereas Macedonia is entering new uncertainty,” Venko Filipce’s party said.
Filipce himself, in an interview with Sitel the same day, urged again the VMRO-DPMNE-led cabinet to publicly present its plan for the integration process and also pointed out that Mickoski and his party had lied to citizens, in the pre-election period, that they would renegotiate the framework.
On the other hand, VMRO-DPMNE MP Mile Lefkov pointed the finger at SDSM and DUI, stressing they had been the ones responsible for the issues facing the country’s EU journey.
Also on Tuesday, DUI leader Ali Ahmeti congratulated Albania and added that for North Macedonia, too, there was no alternative to EU membership.
In Brussels, Peter Szijjarto, the Foreign Minister of the country holding the EU Presidency, Hungary, announced there would be continued support for North Macedonia once the country was ready.
