Aleksovska-Stojanovska Dismissed as Criminal Code Working Group Member

Justice Minister Igor Filkov has dismissed Judge Daniela Aleksovska-Stojanovska, the Judge that sent the suspect in the Frosina Kulakova case, Vasil Jovanov, to a house of correction over a drugs case, as a member of the Criminal Code working group.

As he explained on Monday, the goal is to prevent the discrediting of the process for essential judicial reform.

“I call on courts in all instances and the Judicial Council to take action to re-examine the whole case of Frosina,” he stated.

The Minister also stressed that measures to determine accountability had to be taken.

“There mustn’t be compromise over this matter,” Filkov pointed out.

Asked whether his decision meant that he identified accountability of Alekovska-Stojanovska, he stated that it was about optimisation of working groups and that though he expected the Judicial Council to take action, he wouldn’t interfere in its work. When it comes to a potential stricter penal policy in the area of traffic accidents, the Minister said the working group would do work on that.

“We’re constantly aligning all laws possible together with Interior Minister Interior Pance Toskovski. We’re committed to max punishment,” he stressed.
