In an interview with Fokus, regarding the EU path, asked what the alternative was considering the Bulgarian dispute was still blocking the situation, US Ambassador Angela Aggeler said she didn’t have the answer.
“If I did have the answer, we wouldn’t be still discussing this. I don’t know whether there’s an alternative at this moment. Senior state leaders, the PM, [Hristijan Mickoski,] the Foreign Minister, [Timco Mucunski,] the Defence Minister, [Vlado Misajlovski] and other ministries, are often in Brussels, where they talk to senior representatives of the US. As the US Ambassador, I firmly believe North Macedonia belongs in the EU. Geographically, politically, and strategically, that makes sense”, she noted, adding that the decisions, no matter how difficult they were, had to be made.
