Angelce Nikolov Case: Decision of Court of Appeals Criticised

The reactions to decision of the Court of Appeals to reduce the prison sentence of Angelce Nikolov from 18 to eight years.

Nikolov was the one behind the wheel in the case concerning the traffic accident in which Magdalena Ivanova was killed have continued. The All for Fair Trails Coalition says that there is a deviation from the practice so far. As it added, it’s unusual for the sentence to be more than halved.

According to the Coalition, the Court of Appeals should have offered comprehensively and thoroughly explained reasons about why its stands are that much different when compared to those of the Basic Court in Veles. VMRO-DPMNE, too, has reacted.

“Verdicts like these are the reason why trust in the judiciary is at an exceptionally low level,” Hristijan Mickoski says.
