Apasiev Fiercely Criticised by Journalists and Media over Kanal 5 Comments

Levica leader and MP Dimitar Apasiev has faced huge backlash over his comments on social media on Kanal 5 and the medium’s head, Ivan Mircevski.

“This behaviour is absolutely unacceptable. Politicians and public figures especially should demonstrate the highest level of respect for media and journalists,” the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services said on Monday.

The Macedonian Media Association, too, reacted, condemning the “totalitarian attempts” by Apasiev and members of his party to “the freedom of speech and intimidate the medium, its head, but also the clients who advertise themselves on Kanal 5.”

The Association of Journalists of Macedonia, reacted as well, as did the Macedonian Association of Journalists, with the latter urging prosecutors to react to Apasiev’s “threats and abuse of his position as MP”, in addition to describing the Levica leader as “the little fuehrer from our alley”.
