Around Eight Tons of Medical Cannabis Missing from Borisovo Company

Another approximately eight tons of marijuana produced in a legal medical cannabis factory have disappeared, as uncovered by the relevant commission at the Ministry of Health, prompting the Interior Ministry to file criminal charges against the company and its manager under the Law on Control of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances.

The company is based in the village of Borisovo, Strumica region, and was previously covered by the investigation into the smuggling of marijuana into Serbia, a case uncovered in February. Back in March, police seized a substantial quantity of marijuana from companies lacking documentation for their inventory.

“During an inspection carried out on the premises of the legal entity where dried medical cannabis flower was stored, police officers from the Strumica Internal Affairs Sector and officials from the competent commission at the Ministry of Health established a lack of documentation concerning engaged personnel, a lack of other mandatory records, as well as a shortfall of 7,813.49 kilograms of dried medical cannabis flower”, the Interior Ministry stated.
