University professor with expertise on the political and inter-ethnic relations in the Balkans Florian Bieber stated in an interview for Kanal 5 that North Macedonia should focus on different ways to proceed with its EU-integration, since according to him, the constitutional changes will not be adopted any time soon.
“Having in mind the recent experiences with Ukraine and Hungary, I suggest that North Macedonia should find another way towards integration in the EU. 2024 will be a year of challenges both for North Macedonia and for the EU, since the EU neglected the Western Balkans, thus allowing the influence of Russia and China to spread there, and the candidate status for Moldova and Ukraine also is not a good sign for North Macedonia and the rest of the Western Balkans. I believe that the EU should have sent out of the room the Bulgarian PM,” Bieber said among other things.
