Boro Stojcev Case: Nake Georgiev Enters Plea Deal too

Suspended Supreme Court Judge Nake Georgiev, the prime suspect in the case concerning ex-Novo Selo Mayor Boro Stojcev, has entered a plea deal with the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Georgiev, who’s confessed that he accepted a reward for unlawful influence, will spend three years in prison.

Also, he’s been issued a three-year-ban on serving as judge. On Wednesday, the other suspect in the case, Ixhet Memeti entered a plea deal, too, and was issued a suspended sentence of one year that will not become effective if he doesn’t commit a new crime in the next 36 months.

Also, he was hit with a three-year ban on serving as an official person. In addition, Memeti resigned as a member of the Council of Public Prosecutors.

The two plea deals have sparked political and other reactions. VLEN ironically remarked that Memeti’s confession had vetted DUI.

“This deal with one of the key figures of DUI’s corrupt rule is concerning. This case is becoming a symbol of everything that is wrong with our judicial system,” the coalition said.

According to PM Hristijan Mickoski, the confessions and deals confirm the case was documented well and there was solid evidence about the crime committed by Memeti and Georgiev.
