Josep Borrell, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice- President of the Commission, who is visiting Skopje and was part of the informal dinner in Skopje on Wednesday, commented on the decision to allow Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to participate in the OSCE Ministerial.
“Your decision to allow Lavrov to participate is in line with our common objective to keep multilateralism alive. And Lavrov needs to hear again from everyone why Russia is being condemned and isolated. It will be a good occasion for him to listen directly from the participants of this meeting why Russia is being condemned and isolated,” he said.
Borrell also commented on North Macedonia’s EU path. “If you want to go into the European Union path, you have to complete the process of adopting the constitutional amendments and to advance in key reforms” he noted.
Borrell made those comments after the meeting with PM Dimitar Kovacevski, who said he would send an invitation on Thursday to a leader’s meeting on Monday to discuss the integration path, the elections issue, and the Electoral Code changes.
