Bulgarian MFA Reacts to Deputy PM Nikoloski’s Statements

The Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Ambassador of North Macedonia Agneza Rusi-Popovska in order to convey protest over the latest statements of Deputy PM and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski.

“Regretfully, the systematic provocations and refusal to fulfil the obligations by officials of the neighbouring country are taking the country further away from the start of the EU accession negotiations.

The current and any subsequent cabinet will continue to follow the natural line of Bulgarian’s foreign policy towards the Republic of North Macedonia, which focuses on guaranteeing human rights and respecting the principles of good-neighbourliness,” the Bulgarian MFA stated in a press release.

The reaction follows after Nikoloski said that the process of constitutional amendments and the Negotiating Framework are the main topics in Bulgarian media whenever there are elections in the country.
