Bulgarian Politicians Comment on EU-Integration Process for North Macedonia

Bulgarian Caretaker PM Dimitar Glavchev informed that the Bulgarian positions in relation to the integration of North Macedonia in the EU have not changed at all.

“I will attend the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Brussels, and our positions there are not at all changed. North Macedonia cannot start the EU accession negotiations without registering the Bulgarin minority in their Constitution first. This compromise is the smallest obstacle for North Macedonia, but they continue to neglect other obligations as well”, Glavchev said.

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, in the meantime, had a meeting with former PM of North Macedonia Ljubco Georgievski, after which he called for immediate halt of the hate speech against Bulgarians in North Macedonia.

“Political dialogue between our countries should be conducted on all levels and results can be achieved when relations are built upon mutual respect, and the implementation of the agreement from 2022”, Radev told Georgievski.
