According to Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev, the constitutional changes aren’t the only condition on North Macedonia’s EU path. As he said in an interview with a Bulgarian TV station, even if the changes are made, then, other conditions from the “European consensus” may follow.
“The entire EU is behind that consensus. That’s very important and that’s a condition that should be repeated constantly. Second, protocols, the roadmap for communities and minorities, adherence to what’s been agreed on good-neighbourliness is within that European consensus. All of that should be a fact. Otherwise, there will be no meeting of the European consensus, there will be no meeting of the Council’s conclusions”, Georgiev stated.
The Bulgarian Minister stressed that until that became a fact, the first cluster, which concerned human rights, wouldn’t be opened.
