In an interview on Friday, Public Prosecutor Ljupco Kocevski said the changes to Article 353 of the Criminal Code (abuse of official position and authorisation) had been made very quickly, adding that neither the people from the sector nor the Public Prosecutor’s Office had been consulted.
According to him, when the type and duration of the punishment is determined, the legislator should always take into consideration certain parameters. Kocevski announced a formation of an independent mechanism to report potential influences and pressures by prosecutors and judges.
