On Thursday, Chief Public Prosecutor Ljupco Kocevski met EU Ambassador Michalis Rokas.
“The Prosecutor’s Office is already taking active steps to improve in all areas referred to as recommendations in the last Report by the European Commission on our country’s progress and intensively working on preparing for the tasks from the Reform Agenda whose implementation should soon start,” the former said.
Kocevski also stated that the key challenge, which was also covered in the Report too, was the insufficient resources for the institutions for its activities. Furthermore, the Chief Public Prosecutor briefed the EU Ambassador also on challenges with regards to the lack of public prosecutors and public prosecutorial service, as well as regarding the old equipment.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office’s press-release, Kocevski and Ambassador Rokas talked that budget priorities had to be in line with the priorities and plan for work of the Office and reforms for the rule of law, on general, in order for progress to be achieved when it came to the rule of law and fighting corruption.
Both agreed to continue efforts to convey those messages to relevant organs of the country.
