Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on GRECO Addendum

Commenting on GRECO’s Fourth Evaluation Round Second Addendum to the 2nd Compliance Report, the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office says North Macedonia has satisfactorily implemented the majority of recommendations concerning corruption in respect of public prosecutors.

Also, the Office adds GRECO welcomed the adoption of the changes to the Code of Ethics explicitly referring to the notion of “hospitality” as a type of intangible benefit banned for public prosecutors.

“The changes in this direction, upon a proposal from the Association of Public Prosecutors, were adopted by the Council of Public Prosecutors in November 2023, which has made this recommendation implemented satisfactorily. In addition, in September 2023, the Chief Public Prosecutor of the Republic of North Macedonia adopted a new Rulebook for Acceptance, Disposal and Recording of Received Gifts by Public Prosecutors at Protocolary Events, fully aligned with similar by-laws in European institutions,” the Office notes.
