Committee: Authentic Interpretation of Games of Chance Law Request Justified

Parliament’s Legislative Committee has found that VLEN Parliamentary Group’s request for authentic interpretation of the Games of Chance Law is justified.

That, Telma has reported, has called into question all licences for online gambling. If MPs vote through authentic interpretation, gambling online may be fully banned.

Currently, five companies organise games of chance online. One of them is the National Lottery, which has 51% of capital in the other four. NOVO VLT has for years organised gambling online. It is owned by Casinos Austria.

At the start of the year, the National Lottery opened another three companies, in partnership with Bulgaria-based Telematic Interactive, Serbia-based Mozzart, and Montenegro-based Vezuv.

However, the Finance Ministry doubts any of them have a valid licence to organise games of chance online. That will need to be determined by MPs through the authentic interpretation process.
