A company with Russian capital tried to enter the Defence Ministry by participating in a tender related to sensitive equipment. According to the Ministry’s information, it’s about a company registered in an EU member. It was one of three companies that took part in the tender.
As Defence Minister Slavjanka Petrovska said on Monday, intelligence services in North Macedonia had found out it was about a company with Russian capital as early as before the public procurement procedure reached the point of security checks for tender participants.
“It was indicative because in the first stage, the bid from this company was nearly identical to that of the other two. However, in the second stage, in order to be chosen, the price was lowered by almost 50%,” she stated.
According to Petrovska, the situation should result in a change to the public procurement legislation.
