Constitutional Court: Former PS Xhaferi Didn’t Discriminate Against MP Apasiev

The Constitutional Court officially rejected the initiative filed by Levica leader and MP Dimitar Apasiev against former Parliament Speaker and DUI MP Talat Xhaferi.

Apasiev claimed in his initiative that Xhaferi, when he was Parliament Speaker, discriminated against him based on political affiliation by not allowing him to propose an initiative to the Parliament for declaring a referendum over the so-called French Proposal for accession of the country in the EU.

According to the Constitutional Court, Apasiev should have acted in accordance with Articles 135 and 136 of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament, and adapt the proposal before filing it to the Parliament Speaker, and concluded that then Speaker Xhafer neither broke the Rules of Procedure, nor discriminated against Apasiev.
