None of the four opposing candidates of Iskra Hadji Vasileva submitted an objection to the electoral process, prompting the Council of Public Prosecutors to announce Thursday afternoon the final results and confirm that, with 64 votes, she had been elected to head the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organized Crime and Corruption.
The electoral commission stated that within seven days, the Council had to schedule a session to formally appoint Hadji Vasileva as the Office’s Chief. Following that, she will give a solemn declaration and assume office from Islam Abazi, whose term expires on November 14.
Hadji Vasileva has confirmed to Telma that even after taking the helm, she plans to remain in the courtroom for the two high-profile cases she has been leading: that of Judge Ristov and that of former State Agriculture Inspectorate Director Anakiev.
