Council of Prosecutors Recommends for Memeti not to Participate in Body’s Work

On Wednesday, the Council of Public Prosecutors discussed the procedure against the body’s Deputy President, Ixhet Memeti, who’s suspected of accepting a reward for unlawful influence.

According to the Council’s members, Memeti isn’t supposed to participate in the body’s work and decisions while the procedure is underway. As they explained, however, the law offers no options to dismiss him.

Member Svetlana Zupanovska stated that it was up to Memeti’s virtue whether he would participate in the Council’s work. Member Antonio Jolevski said the Council’s recommendation was for Memeti not to participate in the work.

After the debate, Council President Dusica Dimitrievska said the body would follow the criminal procedure and, depending on the outcome, would act according to the law. According to her, though a dismissal procedure is provided for, at the moment, that is impossible.
