Council to Elect and Dismiss Judges in Pre-Election Period only in Emergencies

The Judicial Council will elect and dismiss judges in the pre-election period only in emergencies.

However, at its session on Wednesday, it didn’t specify what those emergencies were. Supreme Court President Besa Ademi fiercely reacted to that, saying the Council’s explanatory notes were the biggest problem of the body, which had been noted by the EU’s peer-review mission too.

The confrontation of stands resulted in a heated atmosphere. Some members believe that the Council mustn’t self-dissolve due to the elections, whereas others said it was standard practice before all elections.
