The country has a clear plan when it comes to EU integration, according to PM Hristijan Mickoski.
Regarding his visit to Brussels, he optimistically said on Thursday that the three-stage plan for the European future had started. As the PM explained, the plan consists of briefing international partners on the country’s theses, seeing whether the constitutional changes will mark the end of problems facing it, and working on domestic tasks.
“Now, it’s very important, at the second stage of the plan, for us to identify whether the inclusion of several hundreds of Bulgarians in the Constitution will result in an end of our problems or that is, I would say, just the first 10 metres of this 110-metre race. And I think that with our strategy, slowly but surely, we will bring to the surface the true intention, which is already clearer to all in terms of that this is not the only problem, that the problems are yet to come, and that we will not enter any adventure without having a clear plan in terms of seeing the end,” Mickoski underlined.
At the meetings in Brussels, he said, the country’s stands were clearly stated, but there were no counterarguments.
“That means we’ve already implemented the first stage of the plan,” Mickoski underlined, adding that it was very important that the government was seeking a solution.
The “battle”, according to the PM, will continue “because we know we are right.” Regarding the third stage of the plan, Mickoski said dealing with problems and implementing reforms domestically would show the country deserved to be part of the EU on the basis of the merit system.
