On Thursday evening, the Crisis Management Centre said that 29 wildfires had been registered that day, 13 of which were still active.
According to the Centre’s head, Stojance Angelov, though the rain in the afternoon helped put out the Serta Mountain Fire, that was the case only on Negotino’s territory. Regarding Bitola, he said there was a great danger to Pelister Mountain.
“I’ve just been informed that the wildfire that broke out near Bitola is heading towards Pelister. Our focus will most probably be on that,” he stated.
Previously, the President and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, made a decision for an additional 200 Army members to get involved in the efforts to combat the wildfires.
