Criticism of Last Year’s Criminal Code Changes Continues

North Macedonia has good laws, but the implementation is poor, it was assessed at a conference of the National Convention on the EU, held on Wednesday.

Over the past years, there’s been continued backsliding when it comes to mechanisms to fight crime and corruption, participants also assessed.

Last year’s changes to the Criminal Code were especially criticised. Also on Wednesday, the Justice Ministry said the text of the new draft-Criminal Code had been already prepared, translated into English, and submitted to the European Commission, as an obligation within Chapter 23’s bilateral screening.
