The decision made by the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC) according to which the Judicial Council’s naming of two members also as part of the Academy for Judges and Public Prosecutors’ Managing Board represents an attack on the judiciary and disruption of the judicial power, the Council’s head, Vesna Dameva, says in an interview with Telma.
“It’s most rational and most efficient when Judicial Council members participate in the Board,” she claims, adding that the SCPC’s decision is tendentious.
As regards the part of the decision which says the procedure is being stopped and according to which the institution is indicated what type of decision to make and also a deadline for that, the Council’s head asks what position the SCPC has put itself in.
Regarding the start of the public debates on the changes to the Law on the Council and reforms related to her Council, she expects the changed legislation to result in, as she says, a quality election of judges whose liability will be required if they break the law.
