Vesna Dameva has officially been reinstated as President of the Judicial Council of North Macedonia at an urgent session held on Wednesday.
The Judicial Council organised the session immediately after receiving the verdict of the Administrative Court, according to which the dismissal of Dameva in April 2023 was illegal. Dameva replaces Sasko Georgiev, who in line with the procedures, resigned from the position President of the Judicial Council.
“The verdict of the Administrative Court gives hope that justice can be served. I deeply hope and expect that this will be the beginning of the return of the trust of the citizens in the judiciary. I would like to thank for the support we were provided by the EU through their latest report which clearly detected all issues in the judicial sector. I stand for the truth, no matter where it comes from, and I stand for justice, no matter who’s in favour of it and who’s against it,” Dameva said after her reinstatement, adding that she does not expect any obstruction of her further work as President of the Judicial Council.
