Debate Marking 10th Anniversary of Start of Berlin Process Held in Parliament

The Parliament of North Macedonia organised on Wednesday afternoon a debate over the progress of the implementation of the Berlin Process.

Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi said that the Berlin Process played a key role over the past ten years when it comes to the acceleration of EU-integration processes for North Macedonia and the rest of the Western Balkans.

“The Western Balkans have a mutual goal for full-fledged membership in the EU. This is the final destination towards we all move, through similar yet different trajectories, facing mutual but also individual challenges,” Gashi said.

German Ambassador to North Macedonia Petra Drexler pointed out that the basic factor of the pledges and successes in the Berlin Process is the inclusion of national parameters.

“The parliamentary dialogue within the frameworks of the Berlin Process allows a unique platform which keeps us connected, no matter the staff changes. It allows annual meetings which initiate ideas and help decision-making processes, as well as reflection over what has been done and how to create new ideas for moving forward,” Ambassador Drexler said.
