Deputy Prime Minister Nikoloski Responds to Reactions in Bulgaria

Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski has responded to the fierce reactions in Bulgaria to his comments on the absence of North Macedonia’s flag during President Gordana SIljanovska Davkova’s visit to Sofia.

As he assessed, the Bulgarian politicians’ statements are unnecessarily making their western neighbour a topic in the pre-election period in Bulgaria.

“I stand by everything I’ve said, which is that it is impolite, discourteous, and uncivilised for a president to be a guest of yours and for you not to dignify them with the flag of the country they represent,” he said.

According to him, there is no excuse for Bulgarian President Rumen Radev’s decision.

“Our goal is for Macedonia to progress, to become an EU member, to complete the EU path, but that should be done in a proud and dignified, not humiliated, manner,” the Deputy Prime Minister stressed.
