DUI Alleges Ethnic Discrimination, PM Mickoski Dismisses Allegations

Commenting on the firing of police officers, DUI has alleged there is ethnic discrimination in areas such as police, health, and administration.

“Under the guise of fake patriotism and rhetoric to ‘bring Macedonia back to Macedonians’, there is a systemic attempt to degrade and marginalise professionals who have served this country with loyalty and professionalism,” Ali Ahmeti’s party said on Friday.

According to DUI, dedicated servants from the ethnic Albanian community have been impacted. However, PM Hristijan Mickoski denied all accusations, saying that one shouldn’t attach importance to DUI’s “nationalist rhetoric”.

There are no ethnic or party aspects when it comes to fighting crime, he underlined. The PM also stressed that as a result of DUI’s poor policies, 150,000 ethnic Albanians had emigrated from the country in the last 20 years.
