DUI Expresses Concern over ‘Systemic’ Non-compliance with Albanian

On Tuesday, DUI said it was deeply concerned over the “systemic” non-compliance with Albanian on the official websites of the Transport, Energy, and Interior Ministries, and other institutions.

“This represents not only a violation of the Law on Languages, but also an intentional exclusion of Albanians from access to public information. In some cases, just the old bilingual formats used by the previous government have continued to be used, but the essential contents, documents, and key information are published exclusively in Macedonian. It’s about a dangerous trend that goes beyond technical negligence. This is an institutional policy that limits the practical use of Albanian and undermines the foundations of interethnic equality in the country”, Ali Ahmeti’s party said.

In the press-release, DUI also said that with its “silence”, VLEN was not only legitimizing the “policy”, but also it was becoming part of the problem.
