DUI Says Mexhiti’s Been Stripped of Competences at Environment Ministry, Latter Refutes Accusations

According to DUI, Izet Mexhiti has been stripped of competences in the frames of the Environment Ministry.

On Saturday, Ali Ahmeti’s party called on authorities to launch an investigation. As DUI explained, allegedly, there were blackmails by Mexhiti’s Cabinet, which resulted in him being stripped of most of his competences through a decision transferring them to the Environment Administration.

“This new decision tasks the new director with not sending any documents from the key sectors of the Ministry, including the one concerning nature, waters, waste, environment, and industrial pollution, for a signature to Mexhiti’s Cabinet. This measure has been issued as a result of numerous complaints and reports by citizens and companies who were facing conditions from Mexhiti’s Cabinet to give a bribe in exchange for administrative services”, DUI added.

However, Mexhiti denied the accusations, explaining that through legal changes, inspectorates had once again been placed under the umbrella of ministries, which was the reason for the administrative changes.

“With the change to the Inspection Supervision Law, the Ministry has been added additional competences. From now on, the Environment Inspectorate on the whole territory of the country will function under the Ministry’s competence”, he stated.

The Administration Inspectorate, too, reacted, describing DUI’s accusations as false and maliciously constructed.
