Election Campaign Continues

The election campaign continued on Thursday. VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski and VLEN co-leader Izet Mexhiti, together with the VLEN-endorsed candidate in Struga, Mendi Qyra, met citizens in that Municipality.

“It’s always a special feeling when we find ourselves between our people with open hearts, honest smiles, and warm welcome that only Struga can provide. Gratitude to all who came, who shared words, to see our programme for a better life and standard of all citizens. This is our strength, a people united with love towards Macedonia and the future”, he noted.

Later that day, at a rally of the ruling party in the capital, Mickoski called on citizens to support his party’s candidate in the Skopje mayoral race, Orce Gjorgjievski.

Earlier on Thursday, Levica and VMRO-DPMNE had traded accusations over the 28 October televised debate between their respective candidates, Amar Mecinovic and Gjorgjievski. According to Dimitar Apasiev’s party, the debate showed that Gjorgjievski’s view is that a person’s worth is measured on the basis of their status, family, and partisan affiliation.

On the other hand, the ruling party stated that Mecinovic had lied that he had a higher education degree, adding that he’d passed seven exams in the frames of his studies.

Also, it stated that the Levica candidate didn’t even know, inter alia, what projects his programme included and how many PEs there were in the frames of the City of Skopje, which was why he had started to portray himself as a victim and spread fake news.

When it comes to SDSM, Telma reported at around 6:40 pm that there had been up to that point no information about a scheduled rally of that party. However, the previous day, its leader, Venko Filipche, stated that VMRO-DPMNE wanted to return the country to the era of fear, pressures, and blackmails. Nonetheless, he added citizens would not yield.

In Centar, SDSM’s candidate, Goran Gerasimovski, who’s running for another term, met representatives of hospitality venues, informing them about crisis measures being taken to deal with the waste management situation.

His opponent in the race, ZNAM’s Miroslav Labudovic, again talked about his FENIKS (PHOENIX) Square project, saying it will be an example of eco-friendly, energy-efficient, and contemporary architecture.
