EU Recommendations to Be Judicial Council’s Priority in Period Ahead

Implementing the recommendations of the EU and its peer-review mission will be the Judicial Council’s priority in the period ahead.

The members have referred to that commitment in the Annual Report on 2023, which will be sent to Parliament.

In addition, Council President Vesna Dameva said on Thursday that there would be commitment also to the fundamental obligation of protecting the integrity, independence and professionalism of judges and institutions, as well as that they would oppose any outside influence.

The Council complained that due to the low salaries and conditions, a big part of expert associates had left the body. In that regard, it asked for the budget to increase and for financial independence to be established.
