The EU will work closely with North Macedonia’s new government on implementation of the reform agenda and proceeding on the EU path. It nonetheless expects the constitutional changes to be made.
On Tuesday, European Commission Spokesperson Ana Pisonero underlined the need for the country to use the momentum regarding enlargement.
“I think that the message is pretty clear. North Macedonia needs to make the most of the momentum that exists on enlargement in order to move forward decisively on its EU path. I think that you are all extremely aware of what the European Council has made clear that it expects of North Macedonia,” she said, adding that that obviously was also related to the constitutional changes to which North Macedonia had committed to making.
Regarding the Prespa Agreement issue, she said she expected both sides to implement it.
