On Sunday, a joint investigative team from North Macedonia and Serbia, after multiple-month-long cooperation, conducted activities to deal with a criminal group responsible for falsification of euros and offering them on the market. 23 orders for person and home searches were issued, while material evidence was secured.
The team seized, inter alia, 500,000 euros, 25,000 dollars, 25,000 rubles, and 500 Swiss francs, as well as a handgun, bullets, SIM cards, a detector for falsified notes, and laptops. 10 people were deprived of liberty.
The operation, fully supported by EUROPOL and Eurojust’s project for criminal justice in the Western Balkan, has added to the previous such activity, carried out in August 2024, when the Skopje Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office and Kosovan Special Prosecution, when machines to falsify euro coins and other items were found.
