Ex-General and Common Affairs Service Head Mircevski Charged

On Wednesday, the Financial Police Administration submitted, to the Skopje Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office, a criminal charge against Pece Mircevski, former Director of the Government’s Common and General Affairs Service, suspected of a series of crimes, including bribery, and falsification of official documents.

The charge also covers a second man, who owns a private company-based in the capital. He is suspected of giving the bribe.

According to the investigation, Mircevski, from June 2021 to June 2024, signed five public procurement contracts with the second person’s company without notifying there was conflict of interest. As a result, based on the findings, he acquired material benefit for himself, while a member of his family benefitted as well.

In addition, according to the authorities, Mircevski would sign fake statements on non-existence of conflict of interest. Furthermore, from 2022 to 2024, the Administration pointed out, he would present false information on official travels, which enabled him and other persons to get payments for hotel accommodations, plane tickets, and rent-a-car services.

That way, according to the charge, financial damage of around 1.8 million denars was caused to the Budget.

Mircevski has also been charged with unscrupulous operation because, according to the authorities, even though he was aware of the fact that a pilot, part of the institution’s aviation service, didn’t meet conditions for captain, he allowed that man to receive pay for that position, which resulted in the person receiving 3.4 million denars in pay, at the expense of the budget.

Mircevski has been taken to a police station and, tomorrow, (6 February), he will be taken before a judge in the previous procedure, Fokus reported on Wednesday.
