On social media, SDSM leader Venko Filipce has warned there is a serious danger as a result of the Government’s last decision concerning the Council for Civilian Supervision of Communication.
“This body, which is supposed to be a pillar of independence and protection of citizen rights, is now being turned into a tool for party control and abuse. This hypocrisy on the Government’s part is dangerous for democracy and taking the country back to the dark times of the regime systems, when security structures were under full party control and citizen rights would be systemically violated,” he said.
According to SDSM, PM Hristijan Mickoski is directly endangering the democratic order’s foundation. Filipce added that his party would notify the international community. In response, VMRO-DPMNE said that the SDSM leader was lying.
“Instead of SDSM facing the reality that its rule left institutions sunk in corruption, nepotism, and particisiation, they’re now trying to divert attention by making false allegations,” the ruling party said, adding that its goal was to build a transparent and responsible system that would serve citizens, not parties.
The Council, VMRO-DPMNE also said, will be a pillar of independence and professionalism, unlike the “controlled chaos” left behind by SDSM.
