On Wednesday , SDSM leader Venko Filipce stated that the EC’s Report on Macedonia’s progress was ringing a serious alarm over the country’s future and perspective. He described it as the worst such document in the last 10 years.
As Filipce underlined, the assessment that Macedonia hasn’t made progress on the European path is a clear message with regards to the direction in which the country’s moved since the start of VMRO-DPMNE’s term as the ruling party.
The SDSM leader believes that the Report has confirmed the halt and backsliding of the country on the EU path, as well as that urgent steps are needed to bring back the country to the integration road.
However, VMRO-DPMNE stated in response that Filipce and “his Strumica mentor” [alluding to ex-SDSM leader and former PM Zoran Zaev] were to blame because their treason and acceptance of a harmful deal had resulted in the country “now being subject to blackmail and pressure”.
