Five-Member Commission Finds no Oversights in Suicide Case

The five-member commission that conducted expert supervision in the case concerning the woman that had committed suicide by jumping from a window at the Gynaecology Clinic in Skopje has found no oversights in the treatment.

The Clinic’s psychologist talked to her, she received no psychiatric therapy, and it wasn’t registered anywhere that the woman had hallucinations and showed signs she was suicidal. According to the report, the patient didn’t lose touch with reality and what happened couldn’t have been predicted.

Previously, immediately after the jump, the State Sanitary and Health Inspectorate had found an oversight because those on-call at the Clinic didn’t insist on her being checked by a psychiatrist and ordered those responsible at the Clinic to carry out a procedure to determine accountability by health workers who were at work.

Part of the public criticised health authorities over the suicide.
