At Thursday’s conference in Berlin headlined “A larger, stronger Union – making the European Union fit for enlargement and future members fit for accession”, Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani described North Macedonia as the litmus test of the EU’s credibility.
“From the stands of Jean-Claude Juncker to those of von der Leyen presented several days ago, I can empirically witness that Europe is today facing a geopolitical awakening, which should provide a geostrategic investment in the EU’s security,” he stated.
In his address, Osmani once again talked about the More Integration before EU membership concept, as one of the modalities for North Macedonia effectively catching up with the economies of EU members and bridging the gap that’s currently increasing instead of reducing, North Macedonia’s Foreign Ministry said.
At the same time, he welcomed again the Growth Plan for the Western Balkan. Osmani’s address came at the first part of the event, together with his counterparts from Germany, Slovenia, and Ukraine, Annalena Baerbock, Tanja Fajon, and Dmytro Kuleba, respectively.
On the sidelines of the conference, Osmani met Fajon, his Montenegrin counterpart, Filip Ivanovic, and German Minister for Europe Anna Luehrmann.
