Regarding North Macedonia’s decision to vote against the resolution concerning the Cuba embargo, the Foreign Ministry told Telma on Thursday that it was founded on three key postulates: NATO membership, alignment with the EU’s Common Security and Foreign Policy, and the strategic partnership with the US.
As the institution explained, the decision was made in conditions of unaligned common stand of EU members, taking into consideration national interests. In that context, Telma has learned unofficially that the decision is based on support for the position of the US, as a strategic partner of North Macedonia, on the matter.
