Gashi Says He Has no Competence to Convene Session over Defenders Draft-Law

Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi will definitely not convene a new Committee session over the Defenders Draft-Law. He told Kanal 5 on Monday that only Ilire Dauti, head of the Social Policy Committee, had that competence.

“I am not violating the Rules of Procedure,” Gashi pointed out.

To end all inconsistencies misused by MPs, Gashi will request that they be considered by the Committee on Rules of Procedure. Regarding the Draft-Law, which Dauti is refusing to put on the agenda, VLEN’s Arben Taravari believes that now is not the time to raise the issue.

The ruling coalition hasn’t so far discussed the matter of defenders.
