General Staff so far not Invited to Paris Meeting, Defence Ministry Says Soldiers will not Be being Sent to Ukraine

The General Staff of North Macedonia’s Army has so far not been invited to attend the Paris meeting announced by French President Emmanuel Macron with chiefs of general staffs of countries ready to guarantee the future peace in Ukraine and strengthening defense at a European level.

Asked about the French President’s announcements about meetings with military representatives of those countries ready to send peace forces that would be deployed after the combats end, North Macedonia’s Defence Ministry has said soldiers from the country will not be being sent to Ukraine.

“From a current standpoint, we think there shouldn’t be Macedonian soldiers on Ukrainian territory. What’s most important and is of particular significant importance to Ukrainian citizens is to first and foremost set up a peaceful state, that is, to reach a mutual solution that would guarantee long-term peace and to, in the meantime, discuss further assistance modalities”, the institution told Sitel on Thursday.
