Interviews with passport candidates at the Bulgarian Consulate in Bitola would be conducted by a cleaning lady. That was revealed by Angel Georgiev, Bulgarian MP from the Revival party, following the report on the conducted control at the mission sent to an inspectorate of the Bulgarian Justice Ministry.
As he added, the woman rejected a big number of applications. Bulgarian Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel admitted there had been systemic shortcomings in the frames of the Consulate. The woman no longer has access to the Consul’s service and to the archives, she stressed.
Though direct evidence that the woman would directly interview candidates were not found, according to Gabriel, scary violations that are inadmissible with regards to diplomatic services were noted. The Bulgarian Minister revealed that 2,719 applications had been returned for further competition in the frames of the Consulate.
