Glavchev Expects North Macedonia to Respect Agreements

“I expect North Macedonia to respect agreements and I will remind European counterparts what obligations were assumed as early as 18 July 2022, when the negotiating framework was adopted, and what the roadmaps concerning the country’s EU accession are,” Bulgarian caretaker PM Dimitar Glavchev said after he’d arrived in Brussels on Thursday.

As he added, in December 2023, matters were made more concrete and the focus was placed on the issue of connotational changes.

“Lately, we’ve been hearing statements by party leaders, but also by government heads in the Republic of North Macedonia that such changes will not be made,” the Bulgarian PM stressed.

As he highlighted, he will inform EU leaders about what the situation is and what has been adopted so far.

Asked whether Bulgaria had talked to Greece about taking some joint action, Glavchev stated that, for now, such a matter hadn’t been discussed.

However, he didn’t rule out the possibility of that being done in the future.
