Government, Opposition Trade Accusations over Dismissal of Kocevski

The government and the opposition continue to trade accusations over the initiative for dismissal of Chief Public Prosecutor Ljupco Kocevski. The Justice Ministry is preparing the resolution for his dismissal, which is expected to be processed at the government session next Tuesday.

VMRO-DPMNE MP Brane Petrusevski said at a press conference that there is not a single argument for Kocevski to keep his position.

“Ljupco Kocevski, instead of prosecuting criminals, went on to protect the criminal activities committed by those close to SDSM, like in the case of Judge Nakje Georgiev and Prosecutor Ixhet Memeti, who resorted to criminal activities to protect former Novo Selo Mayor Boro Marlboro. Koevski showed that he is totally uncapable to manage such a serious institution, which is why he has to be dismissed as soon as possible”, Petrusevski said.

From SDSM on the other hand, they reiterated their position that the dismissal of Kocevski is to open room for VMRO-DPMNE to install prosecutors and judges which will be under control of their party, returning the country to the dark times when the judiciary served the party in power instead of the citizens.
