Government to Consider Kocevski Dismissal Proposal Tuesday (18 February)

The proposal to dismiss Ljupco Kocevski as Chief Prosecutor, drawn up by the Justice Ministry, will be considered at a session of the Government on Tuesday (18 February).

After that, it will be sent to the Council of Public Prosecutors, whose President, Dusica Dimitrieska, has already said her institution will present an opinion (a positive or negative one) within the legal deadline of 15 days.

However, Justice Minister Igor Filkov has stated that even if the Council presents a negative opinion, the procedure to dismiss Kocevski will be sent to Parliament, which will have final say.

“We will continue to take activities aiming to improve the functioning of the judicial system. Confidence of citizens has been seriously violated, which is why we’re strongly committed for, finally, the law to rule and for us to have a legal state”, the Government says.
